Osprey Bus

The Osprey Bus (74, 74A) has just been launched to bring bird watchers and nature lovers to the area of Bassenthwaite Lake and Dubwath.

Whilst staying at Lakeside Country Guest House you can walk to the new Dubwath Wetland Nature Reserve. Then catch the Osprey bus which will take you on a scenic journey with stops at Trotters World of Animals, Mirehouse, Dodd Wood for Osprey Watching on powerful telescopes with the guidance of experienced rangers. Whinlatter Visitors centre a haven for bird watchers with the added bonus of the indoor screen which shows the activities of the Osprey in their nest which has a cam corder inside. Great close ups of the chicks being hatched etc

Also the exciting new Go ape high wire activity centre for the dare devils situated at Whinlatter Forest. The bus has a bicycle rack for 2 bikes so you could cycle around Whinlatter or the Forests at Dubwath.

You will then be returned to Dubwath for your accommodation at Lakeside.

Buses run from 12th April- August 31st at weekends Bank Holidays and school holidays.
